One of the most iconic works of literature and science is the Origin of Species by Charles Darwin. I was asked to create the design for a new edition of the books. The result is a modern take on evolution.
The marbled texture of the books is consistent with the look of cellular structure, mimicking evolution as they evolve into larger forms. The typography honors evolution too as it rolls across the spine, changing the look of each book. This creates a legible title when they are stacked together as well.
In January 2016 I felt a lack of motivation and creativity. In order to remedy this I decided to make a poster every week during the spring. The result were 15 posters that share some things, but are on the whole quite different.
But the best part is that they helped me get creative again.
All Eyes on Me
Quite often I get the feeling that the entire world is looking at me and expecting something. It is a pressure to perform well and never fail. I wanted to illustrate that in this project. That’s why I decided to put eyes all over my face while documenting the process. It symbolizes the feeling creeping up on me and slowly taking over my being.
Teknisk is a typeface that I developed during the fall of 2015. In the end it turned into two versions of the typeface, Teknisk and Teknisk Stencil.
Teknisk is designed to capture the mechanical feeling of the early machines. With its straight lines and no-nonsense approach to letters it is a typeface that feels like it could have been made to be part of an old piece of machinery. All while maintaining a friendly human touch.
LL Circular Packaging
I was asked to create the physical packaging for a digital product, a typeface. The product would be featured at a physical location and needed to represent the typeface itself. I chose to create the packaging for the typeface LL Circular. It comes in three weights and is delivered using a SD card.
I was asked to create a brand for the 2015 Typecon taking place in Denver. The branding was supposed to be entirely typographic. My solution was to create a pattern out of the word Typecon. This opened up possibilities of utilising the pattern across the board for the entire event.
The official poster, ticket, and t-shirt all have the word Typecon hidden inside of them in a reflective material, reflecting their surroundings, while the ID-cards feature distinct colours for easy identification.
Happy Ending is a brand of condoms made to be appealing to teenagers. Inspired by Lichenstein's popart they feature colourful and geometric designs. The aim is to make safe sex something fun and happy. As it should be.
Sounds of SIlence
A commemorative vinyl released on the 50th anniversary of The Sounds of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel. The entire design reflects clouds swirling across the sky on a quiet summer day. The design was laser-cut into white plexi to give a solid and tactile feel.
This conceptual packaing was created for Wilson Sports golf division. It is inspired by the forms of a the capital W as well as Wilson's traditional advertising. One of my main goals was to make sure the packaged products were visible—and when possible, innovate how the product was packaged.
Our Dimension was a design project that explored dimension we live in and how it has affected us as humans. It starts by explaining what the third dimension is and how it compares to our closest neighbouring dimensions. After that it takes a look into how we humans can actually perceive our dimension and its depth. And lastly it talks about how our dimension is interpreted in art.
